The GP14

Butler GP14

After being approached by the GP14 association if we would like to build GP14's,we got started on making our composite racing GP14 and the Training and cursing GP.

The racing composite GP14 dinghy is our take on the GP14, with a FRP (foam reinforced plastic) hull and the timber superstructure and decks. The Mix of the two technologies lend their strength to one another, making one of the stiffest GP14's. all the superstructures and Decks are sealed in multiple Epoxy resin coating before being spray varnished to a gloss.

with this boat we made to changes to the Classic design of the other builders including a curved thwart and what we call a rib deck structure which we have used on other Classes, we find is increases the overall strength of the triangulation points of the rigging as well as being to our eye more astatically appealing.

  • FRP Ready to race               £13050.00
  • Composite ready to race  £13500.00
  • All Rounder                           £8650.00

Training and Cursing GP14

With our racing dinghy  the association want us to start producing the Training GP14.  The GP14 has had a long and beloved history of Training great sailor's including Olympians. with this History they were keen to keep this legacy going with a full Fiberglass GP14.  The Aims of this GP14 was to be a simpler and more robust dinghy that would perfect for Training new Sailors of any age group. with a reefing sails, a Vang instead of a kicker , no Spinnaker but with the ability to add one for later possible racing .  We also wanted to Standardise these GP14 so we could give a fixed low cost to clubs and so once trained one from one club they would be able to go in any Butler trainer anywhere else.
